Kevin James, The Inventor was head hunted to join the cast of a little 3-week experiment at the SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE, called THE ILLUSIONISTS. The concept was to band together 7 of the world’s greatest magicians on one stage.
This show was different and full of high production. Every artist had their own style and the show was full of variety. The magic was blended with the excitement of a live, hip and youthful group of musicians. The show was super exciting and became a smash sell out, breaking box office records!!!
That 3-week experiment quickly turned into tours of Australia, United Arab Emirates, New Zealand, Europe, Singapore, Mexico, Central and South America performing at the most important venues in each country like AUDITORIO NACIONAL in Mexico City. The venue held 10,000 people. Sometimes doing 3 shows per day!!! 30,000 people would witness the impossible every Saturday!
In the UK The Illusionists shot a TV Special for ITV at the famous HAMMERSMITH APOLLO!
It was time to bring the show to the United States. The Illusionists first show in the US was on BROADWAY. It was a spectacular new show at the Marriott Marquis Theatre, with sold-out crowds and standing ovations. Right after Broadway the show embarked on their first National Tour of the USA playing all the primary theatrical markets. This year Kevin returned to Mexico City to perform for second time in the famous Auditorio Nacional with a complete new cast.
Even when the magicians started to change because the company added more units, Kevin remained as one of the original and starring members. This year Kevin performed with The Illusionists in one of the most important venues in USA, the KENNEDY CENTER in Washington DC. His second time was 2017 where he created a special video online as a featured artist in Kennedy Center Digital Stage Original series.
The Illusionists also recorded the most important TV Magic Special of the last decade, airing on NBC. It was a mind-blowing spectacular filmed at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. Again, touring in the US and closed with an amazing season at the Shaftsbury Theatre on the WEST END in London!
These were big expansion years for The Illusionists brand with multiple units playing in many countries of the world at the same time. Each holiday season had units of the show playing in New York, Sydney, Toronto, and London. Another exciting moment was to enjoy a solid run at the Pantages Theatre in HOLLYWOOD!
It was time to come back to Europe, this time playing arenas! Some of the capital cities Kevin played were Sofia, Rome, Milan, Vienna, Krakow, Olso, Vilnus, Gdansk, Ljubljana, Talin, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Zurich, Riga, Stockholm, Helsinki, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Berlin.
Kevin finished and started a new year performing for second time on BROADWAY at the Neil Simon Theatre!!! It was also the year that Cirque du Soliel bought The Illusionists brand. Adding them to their amazing international entertainment powerhouse!
